In every secondary school, in every classroom, especially in the senior forms, teachers often complain that students make 'no response'.

When a teacher finishes a chapter, he or she usually asks 'Any questions?' The classroom becomes extremely quiet. It is so quiet that you could hear a pin drop on the floor.

Then the teacher will ask again, 'Any response?' Silence follows.

Thinking that the students have no questions, the teacher decides to ask them some questions. 'Does anyone know the answer?' Again, there is no response.

What is even worse is that when the teacher asks a student to stand up and answer a question, the student just stands there without saying anything.

They do not even want to try. Others just say: 'I'm sorry, I don't know the answer.' Sometimes the teacher loses patience and tells them to sit down.

Every time I see my teacher ask a question and my classmates remain silent, I feel sad.
