Sentence cut for fur trader
A MANAGER of a trading company who sold more than 4,000 mink skins to China, knowing they had been stolen, yesterday had his four-year jail sentence cut by one year.
Yau Yu, 31, and go-between Tsang Kwong-wah, 27, won the same cut in sentence in the Court of Appeal. Both had admitted their guilt after being arrested.
Mr Justice Fuad said the court felt Mr Justice Leong, when passing sentence on May 29 last year, had been too influenced by threats and violence used during the robbery of the furs.
