Something must be done about MTR perverts

In September, I came to live in Hong Kong with my fiance.

Since that time I have been sexually assaulted more than four times on the MTR. In one incident, I was actually masturbated on. From speaking to a close friend, it would seem that many women in Hong Kong suffer sexual assault on quite a frequent basis.

The occasions on which I have been 'felt-up' and worse always occur on extremely crowded trains during what I have renamed the 'sardine hour' instead of 'rush-hour'. I have now reached the stage where any movement by a male on the MTR especially if behind me, brings on feelings of panic.

I find these experiences degrading and extremely upsetting. In most instances I have felt unable to shout, hit or do anything to the pervert as the train has, on each occasion, been too crowded for certainty as to who is behaving in such a disgusting not to mention cowardly manner.

On the one occasion I have asked the man what he thought he was doing, he got off the train as it had just pulled into a station without saying a word and my fellow passengers looked to the floor in an embarrassed silence. I felt as though I had done something wrong which only deepened my distress.

I know the problem of perverts on underground systems is not unique to Hong Kong, but I ask - is there anything decent people or the MTR Corporation can do about it? NAME AND ADDRESS SUPPLIED
