Four armed men yesterday raided the Macau home of the granddaughter of a senior Chinese official.
Ye Jingzi, 21, whose grandfather, Ye Xuanping, is vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, was tied up during the robbery in the Chung Foo Building in the outer harbour area.
The men, armed with knives, also tied up Ms Ye's boyfriend, Poon Kim-lung, 27, before escaping with 15 antique watches, jewellery and several thousand dollars. The haul was estimated to be worth $1 million.
On January 3, a second secretary of the Sino-Portuguese Joint Liaison Group, Fan Lequn, and his driver, Chan Sang, were attacked and wounded by a gang while on business in the enclave.
Chinese officials have demanded an explanation from the Macau Government.
