Prudential Assurance has appointed Peter Lin general manager of Prudential Hong Kong and chief operations officer of Prudential China. Prior to his appointment, Mr Lin spent nine years with AIG in senior management positions in the US, Singapore, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Mr Lin will succeed Eddie Fong who will be leaving the company. Global accountancy and consulting firm Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu International (DTTI) has named three new partners. Frederick Leung Chi-ching has been named a principal in the corporate advisory services department in Hong Kong. He has experience in the client service areas of due diligence reviews, forensic accounting, corporate restructuring, business valuations and viability studies, and other corporate advisory services related to business development in Hong Kong and China. Sarah McGrath has been appointed a partner in the tax department in Hong Kong. She will provide corporate tax planning advice, handle tax objections and present tax appeal cases before the board of review. Quin Va becomes a partner in the practice in Macau. He specialises in providing accounting, taxation and corporate services. He is a registered accountant with the Finance Ministry of Portugal. Cabletron Systems has appointed Sam Yang general manager for greater China (China, Taiwan and Hong Kong). He will oversee operations and strategic planning. Mr Yang has more than 11 years of experience in the networking industry, of which six years were spent in the greater China region. Ernst & Young has appointed Trevor Sunderland managing director of the human resources consulting division. Mr Sunderland will lead development of the broad-based human resources consultancy, including compensation and benefits consulting, outplacement services and organisational structure and reviews. Steven J Leach Jr & Associates has appointed David Milne director of the SL & A Retail division. Mr Milne has experience in retail design specialising in shopping centre development, department stores and re-imaging corporate retail environments. He has also been involved in the up-market residential sectors, in both an architectural and design capacity. Peggy Lee has been appointed senior consultant of Coopers & Lybrand Management Consultants. Ms Lee has experience in competence and management development, human resources management and executive skills training and development. Previously, she worked with the Hong Kong Productivity Council. Eric Conrad has become principal consultant. He specialises in the utility sector, especially in the area of increasing financial and quality control through customer-focused business process management, activity-based costing, information systems and change management. Douglas Henck, senior vice-president of Asia Pacific Operations, Aetna International Inc, has been selected as chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong. Mr Henck has served as vice-chairman and vice-president of the chamber's board of governors and chaired the government relations and trade and investment committees. He served as chairman of the Asia-Pacific Council of American Chambers of Commerce (APCAC) from 1993 to 1995. Mr Henck is the senior Aetna executive in the region and is responsible for overseeing Asia Pacific operations. Florence Lai has been appointed communications manager at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management). She has previously held senior positions such as China project consultant in China for World Wide Fund for Nature, public relations manager of New World Harbour View Hotel and most recently group promotions and public relations manager of Regal Hotels International.
