I am in the habit of keeping regular back-ups, but the enormous size of Windows 95 made my floppy disk system rather tedious. I intended to shift to a removable data storage system and was attracted to the external Zip drive.
However, I was lured by a computer salesman to consider the Syquest EZ 135. He claimed EZ was faster and had a better capacity. As I only intend to use the back-up for three computers, I do not mind buying something that other people do not use. I understand the EZ is relatively obscure in Hong Kong. Since I have not seen any comparative literature on these two, can you advise which would be the best. I would not consider a tape or MO drive.

I have looked at the new Syquest drive in this column before and they do have a high capacity that is good for what you have in mind. Given time they will be more commonly available. Meanwhile, a Jaz or Zip drive and respective disks will be a cheaper alternative for you.
You mentioned in a previous column that Eudora was not the first e-mail program to let people send formatted documents in their entirety. Which ones were the first and how many others let us do this? S ANDREWS Aberdeen All e-mail programs allow you to send formatted documents as attachments. Even Pine, the Unix shell e-mail program, allows you to do this.
However, if you mean the ability to send various formats - such as bold, italic, underline etc - then not all e-mail programs will do. Microsoft Mail allowed this before Eudora Pro 3.0 came along. But this does not necessarily mean the recipient can see them. The recipient must be using the same mail program as the sender.
