Hong Kong winters are unlikely to chill Veena Sikri, India's first consul general in the territory. 'I have spent six winters in Moscow, which is how anyone counts the time they spend in cold countries,' the 48-year-old diplomat said. 'The coldest was in 1988 when the temperature dropped to minus-40 degrees!' Mrs Sikri occasionally visits the former Soviet Union. Her husband, Rajiv Sikri, is India's Ambassador to Kazakhstan. Her previous posting was in Paris as an economic minister responsible for European Union affairs. Hong Kong is her first stint as a consul general.
