An all expense-paid trip to the famous Peachtree Run in Atlanta, Georgia beckons for Kjeld Dissing after his convincing victory in the second leg of the adidas King of the Road series at Bowen Road yesterday.
With one leg remaining, Dissing is poised for the overall men's series title and a trip to Atlanta following yesterday's victory in the 10-kilometre race in 31 minutes, 52 seconds.
Civil engineer Martin Mannion was second across the line in 32:49, which gave him the men's open title, while Dissing was placed first in the men's senior category. Lei Hon-wa was the third runner to finish in 33:28.
Winnie Ng Lai-chu continued her own remarkable form by taking overall honours in the women's race, crossing the finish line in a fast time of 36:33, some two-and-a-half minutes clear of fellow veteran Yuko Gordon.
Dissing made the half-way turn almost 30 seconds ahead of Mannion, who himself was half a minute in front of a pack of runners, including Jimmy Young, Babs Bukunola, Lei and Mike Ellis.
The tight and twisting course proved hazardous for some of the faster runners, who had to dodge walkers, casual runners, back markers and even the occasional dog.
