Director of Audit Dominic Chan Yin-tat and the Commissioner for Customs and Excise Lawrence Li Shu-fai were the last top officials to see Mr Tung at his Wan Chai office.

Up to 27 posts can be nominated by Mr Tung for Beijing's approval.

They include a deputy for each of his three key officials: Administrative Secretary (now Chief Secretary), Financial Secretary and Secretary of Justice (now Attorney-General).

Of the current senior officials, Mr Tung did not see Attorney-General Jeremy Mathews, who cannot serve after the handover, and Monetary Authority chief executive Joseph Yam Chi-kong, who is not considered a government official under the present hierarchy.

A spokesman for Mr Tung said he was unlikely to announce his team before flying to Beijing for a Preparatory Committee meeting scheduled for Friday.
