Wharf's live game on Sunday, the Chelsea v Liverpool FA Cup tie, was the best match of the season so far.

It had a thrilling and unlikely comeback; great skill; plus a vociferous crowd with the added element of significant away support. Chelsea's second-half transformation with the introduction of Mark Hughes was eye-opening.

It was as if the fiercely competitive Welshman picked the team up by the example of his commitment.

Riding on the wave of passion that Hughes sparked (they don't call him 'Sparky' for nothing) came Gianfranco Zola with a stirring equaliser and a brilliant cross for the fourth goal.

Released from the lone attacking burden by Hughes' arrival, Gianluca Vialli rediscovered where the goal is, hitting a brace.

The obverse of the Blue renaissance was the complete capitulation of the Liverpool defence in the second half.
