AZ Yet - AZ YET (La Face Records) Here is a winning formula that more or less guarantees success in the American pop scene: a bunch of young guys (and girls), with reasonably good looks, the ability to sing in harmony, and most importantly, Babyface.
It works every time. And here we have AZ YET, the latest creation from the Babyface hit factory, who fit this formula rather well.
Having done fairly well in the pop charts with their hit single Last Night, a song from the movie The Nutty Professor, this five-man band is now on the right course for more commercial success.
And why not. Despite the fierce competition within the American soul and R & B markets these days (with a vast number of harmony groups arriving on the scene since the early 1990s), AZ YET are likely to survive simply because they can reach the high, as well as low, notes.
Musically, there are few surprises.
The album, produced by Kenneth Edmonds and Antonio Reid, is like another TLC album, only with male vocals.
