STYLISH Australian rider Darren Beadman produced a 40-1 double to remind racegoers that the title race is not necessarily a two-man show.

With Tony Cruz again in top form and Gerald Mosse landing a winner, Beadman's double lifted him to 24 winners for the season - eight adrift of front-running Cruz.

But Beadman on form is a delight to watch and trainer Bruce Hutchison had every reason to be pleased after stayer Spirits Bay (8-1) got up in the last stride to win the Lusitano Challenge Cup.

Beadman completed the double in less-exalted company when See The King (5-1) won the Class Six, 1,600-metre fifth event.

Spirits Bay had run a bold third at Happy Valley last time out but looked well placed over this Sha Tin trip - particularly with the longer straight in operation.

''Darren gave him a grand ride, not bustling him early or anything like that. It had to be a close finish because he is really better over longer than this.
