A PROPOSAL for all old buildings to undergo mandatory structural review will be discussed by the Executive Council this month.
Owners of buildings more than 20 years old would have to hire surveyors and submit a safety and legitimacy report on all structures, an official said.
The Government last year published a list of old buildings believed to be potentially dangerous.
The checklist is split into three categories. Residential buildings would be surveyed every five years while industrial buildings would be checked every seven years.
Non-domestic buildings, including commercial and sports complexes, schools and community halls, which are thought to be better looked after, would be checked every 10 years.
Under the plan, the structural report would be kept in the property's files so future buyers would be able to know more about it.
