Nascar Racing 2 for PCs CD-ROMS Two years worth of technological developments have gone into updating Nascar Racing.

  The classic race game - now transformed into Nascar Racing 2 - has been given a facelift in all departments.

    There are 16 officially-licensed race tracks in the game. Many have been completely modernised and given greater realism.

  Whether you are a novice or a seasoned racer, the new arcade mode adjusts the levels of competing drivers, so you do not fall too far behind or get streets ahead.

  The best features of Nascar Racing 2 are the spotter and much better graphics. You may have to update your computer to take full advantage of these features.

  The faster the system, the better the game runs.

  As a result, you may have to turn off graphics or sound to get an acceptable frame rate. With anything less than a Pentium 90, you would probably have to drop back to VGA to get an acceptable frame rate.

  On a slow Pentium, that is anything under 133 MHz, a Rendition video accelerator will help boost the overall performance.

  In addition, if your computer system is slow, try your best to lower the game's graphic resolutions and details. This will let you keep a decent frame rate.

  Nascar Racing 2 is a DOS game. If you install and run the game under DOS, it works right out of the box. If you encounter problems playing the game under Windows 95, try to switch it back to DOS mode.

  The best feature of this game is the modem, serial, and eight player IPX network play. Only one copy of the game is required for distribution across a Local Area Network.

  But when playing the game over a modem, you will notice a problem. When you are the caller, no matter where you qualify, your car always starts at the rear of the field and you have to hustle around the other cars.

  You also need to try to squeeze into your qualifying position before you get to the green flag. It is a programme bug the developers are working on.

  To run Nascar Racing 2, your PC should be installed with 486 DX/2 66 MHz co-processor or greater, with 16 MB of RAM, 20 MB of free hard-disk space, soundcard with DAC, mouse, VGA 320x200, and 2X CD-ROM drive.

  For premium performance, your computer system should be installed with Pentium 75 co-processor or higher, with 16 MB of RAM, SVGA 640 x 480, and 4X CD-ROM drive.

   MEGAHINT: Hang back five or six car lengths when behind the pace car for the start or restart. You can hit the gas early and pick up a number of positions. Bring out the black flag for passing under the yellow.
