Six third-year students of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CU) had the chance to impress their colleagues with an exhibition of their work at New Asia College.
Their acrylic and lined joint works were displayed at the college's Hui Gallery.
'We have been planning to stage this exhibition since last year. But we wanted to exhibit some new art, so we were busy creating the work until just two weeks before the exhibition,' said exhibitor Ng Tsz-kwan.
'In spite of working in a bit of a rush to meet a deadline, we are quite satisfied with the results.' Tsz-kwan and Tse Yim-on also displayed their work at the Fringe Festival '97, so that their art could reach a wider audience.
Chan Lai-ping said that art reflected the styles and lives of the different artists.
Lai-ping's work is characterised by groups of circles. Margaret Lam Choi-kwan's art is characterised by flowers.
Tsz-kwan said: 'The ideas behind artwork mostly come from daily life. As I am an art student, I have been trained to be more sensitive towards the things around me, and everything inspires my ideas.' The group took a trip to China's Three Gorges to spark new ideas for their exhibition. The 10 days were mainly spent sketching and viewing the scenery.
