I refer to the article 'Samsung chip causes bit of confusion over bytes'.

I was disappointed with the article. It was written by a stupid idiot who knows a little about the computer world but nothing about the memory industry.
There is no doubt that memory capacity is measured in 'bits' - not bytes.
Anyone who has a little knowledge of the memory industry cannot misunderstand the Samsung announcement. Most companies, including PC makers, use the unit of 'megabytes'.
All memory makers such as NEC, Toshiba, Hitachi, TI and Samsung use the unit of 'bit' when they refer to memory capacity (not a memory module like SIMM).

They never use tricky units like 'byte', which can be eight bits or 16 bits or so depending on the usage.
