A SPOKESMAN for Cathay Pacific Airways yesterday refused to deny reports that the airline planned a co-operative project with the Wuhan municipal government in managing the Wuhan Tianhe airport and providing aircraft maintenance.
''We have expressed interest in exploring opportunities to co-operate with the aviation industry in China, but we will not comment on any specific projects,'' said public relations manager Kwan Chuk-fai.
''So we cannot confirm involvement in the Wuhan projects.'' The Hubei provincial government has planned to upgrade the airport to international standards.
and the Wuhan city government recently awarded an air traffic control systems supply contract to Italian firm Alenia.
Wuhan, situated on the Yangtze below the Three Gorges, has been identified by several Hongkong companies - notably the Wharf group - as an important transport hub in central China.
