Local jockey Danny Lee's nightmare ended when he finally opened his account for the season at last night's Happy Valley meeting.
Lee took the second event on the Tony P. H. Chan-trained Dragon King who was backed as if defeat were out of the question, shortening from 5.1-1 to 3.3-1 in the last hour of betting.
This was the 351st race of the campaign and Lee is usually up there on half a dozen winners by the time the last third of the season swings around.
'But I haven't been able to pick up so many rides this time and I have had 10 seconds,' Lee pointed out.
In his favour he has run the quinella position 11 times now from just 63 mounts and last night did everything right on his heavily supported mount.
He bounced him straight to the front and from there was never challenged as he made all to score by a comfortable three-quarters of a length from Diablo with outsider, Quick Silver, appreciating the reapplication of blinkers to stay on well for third.
