I REFER to the letter of P.K. Lee headlined ''Tax on maids is workable'' (South China Morning Post February 9, 1993).

Filipino maids are everywhere, not only in Central but the entire territory. Statue Square in Central is a public place which should be open for the enjoyment of all, including Filipino maids.
Filipino maids should not be obliged to pay taxes for relaxing in this area. Shopkeepers never complain as Filipinos are the main customers during public holidays.
Everybody should be free to chatter in public, not just the local Chinese.
