WHILE on the upper deck of a tram recently, I got a sneak preview of the ongoing reconstruction of Statue Square in front of the Legco building. Given the urgent lack of space, especially on Sundays, one would expect the Government to create more space. Instead, all I saw were nasty concrete triangles erected in part of the park to avoid people sitting on the ground, and no additional or improvedseating areas. While we are at it, wouldn't it make sense to create more seating areas in Chater Gardens as well? PAUL ZIMMERMAN Central
