Professional artists including Larry Coryell from the United States and German harpist Kirsten Kutzner played alongside Hong Kong singers including Eugenia Ma.

Gymnastics, pom-pom girls and the music from Les Miserables were all part of the entertainment. Traditional Chinese music blended with Western traditions when drummer Melchior Sarreal accompanied flautist Tam Bo-shek, huqin player Huo Shijier joined Coryell to play a bolero, and Kutzner accompanied Chinese singer Amy Mao Yamin.

The programme was divided into five parts, called drums, dance, convergence, joy and peace.

An extraordinary medley of dancers from Europe, Africa, Thailand and Russia preceded the musical convergence of East and West.
