SCMP Reporter

The 16th Athletics Meet of Sheng Kung Hui Lam Woo Memorial Secondary School took place at Kwai Chung Sports Ground.

     Competitors put in an all-out effort for their houses.

    Their morale was boosted by the cheering teams chanting slogans and waving their pom-poms.

  The winners were: Boys' A Grade, Tam Kin-wah; B Grade, Tang Wing-kong; C Grade, Lee Chi-kong; Girls' A Grade, Lee Cheuk-ying; B Grade, Lam Wing-yee; C Grade, Lee Hoi-yan.

  Outstanding sportsmen included Yip Kun-chow, who won two gold medals in Grade A 800 m and 1,500 m.

   This was the second time he had won the 1,500 m gold.

  The key to his success was to maintain a regular rhythm in the early laps and put in his very best on the last circuit.

  At the finishing ceremony, the Reverend Mary Qu of Calvary Church addressed the gathering.

     She said students should value what they had gained, but never be too proud.

   Striving hard would help them face the tasks ahead. The Reverend Qu and principal Emily Kwong presented prizes to the winners.

   Yellow House stepped into the spotlight as the Overall Champion with Blue House as the first runners-up.
