English star Tim Henman is being wooed by Salem Hong Kong Open organisers to take up one of the two remaining wild card places at this year's event.

The 22-year-old Henman, one of the most improved players on the ATP Tour over the last year, is believed to be free during the week of the US$328,000 tournament at Victoria Park from April 7-13.

Tournament director Michael Luevano declined to speculate on possible wild card players, but it is understood that organisers are actively pursuing Henman.

'We are looking at many possibilities,' said Luevano.

Of the three wild card places in the 32-strong main draw, one has been given to the Hong Kong Tennis Association.

Henman is seen as the man to bring English tennis out of a decades-old slump and has already shown this year that he has the potential to become a top-10 player.
