No instant pass with tutorials

Most students who want to be promoted to Form Six have to take the HKCEE.

The results of the public exam play an important role as this is when students decide whether to further their education or go out to work.

One way of getting extra tuition is by spending time at tutorial classes after school.

However, it does not mean if students go to tutorial centres they are guaranteed of success.

Most students join these classes to get tips for the exams.

For instance, tutorial teachers give them plenty of notes and other supplementary exercises which should help them to do well.

Other students participate in tutorials to improve on what they have learned at school.

For example, students who want to brush up on their English language skills may take some language courses.

However, you do find some students who attend tutorials only because their classmates do and they waste a lot of their parents' money.

You might have noticed that tutorial centre advertisements often guarantee students a pass in a subject if they enrol at that centre.

I do not believe they can deliver the goods. Surely hard work brings greater results than tutorial classes.

Even if you do attend tutorials it does not automatically mean you will get good results if you do not work hard.

In my opinion, if you want to get good results in the HKCEE, you have to spend more time studying than at tutorial classes. Eric is a pupil of Kei Long College
