South China coach Wong Man-wai was furious after his side's 3-1 loss to Chinese-Taipei in a friendly at the Hong Kong Sports Institute yesterday.

It was the Caroliners' first game with their full squad since February 13. Half the team have been playing for Hong Kong in World Cup qualifying matches.

With their national players Ricky Cheng Siu-chung, Lee Kin-wo, Shum Kwok-pui, Song Lianyong , Ku Kam-fai and Au Wai-lun back in the side, the double-champions of last season were disorganised in the first half and soon found themselves 3-0 behind to the Taiwanese - who lost 1-0 to Eastern in a friendly on Monday.

Wong was infuriated by his players' performance and blasted them during the interval.

'What's the point if you're going to play like that in the second half. I might as well put myself on the field,' Wong told his players.

The Caroliners, after making a few substitutions, pulled themselves together for a better second half with Au pulling a goal back for the local side.
