We refer to a letter from reader, Linda Fong, headlined 'Braving the cold of ferry trip' (South China Morning Post, February 24).

Since the cabin of our hoverferries is enclosed, by design, ventilation or air-conditioning is deemed necessary for passengers. However, as the design of the air-con system in hoverferries is on a fixed setting, we have already started installing new thermostats on board to improve the system. The temperature will be set approximately between 20 and 22 degrees Celsius, depending on the weather of the day.

We have instructed our crew members to pay attention to the temperature inside the cabin. Should it drop too low, they will turn the system off to let the temperature increase. We will also carry out regular checks on the system to ensure they are functioning in a normal way.
