Every winner more or less counts double at this time of the season with the battle for riding and training supremacy likely to go to the wire. The trainers' championship is particularly tight with John Moore slugging it out with defending champion Ivan Allan yesterday. But in Speedy Fun, Allan appears to have an almost certain future winner. Speedy Fun was very much outpaced in yesterday's Class Four dash down the straight 1,000-metre chute won by his stablemate, Bold Dancer. But he picked up really well and ran strongly all the way to the line, making up a number of lengths in the last 200 metres. The outing should have left him rippling fit and a move up to 1,400 metres or a mile should see him bring Allan a very handy winner before the end of the season. Miss Piggy went firmly into the notebook when staying on well in the seventh won by Super Goal Star and is a winner waiting to happen over 1,800 metres or farther. And keep an eye out for Derek Cruz's Skase Race when next seen out. He should be fully fit and yesterday finished his race off well behind Perpetual Harmony.
