Learning English can be fun, if you know which sites to visit on the information superhighway.

   There are various Web sites that can help you brush-up on those all-important English skills in an interesting and entertaining way.

  Dave's ESL Cafe at http:// www.pacificnet.net/sperling/ eslcafe.html is a terrific resource for English language learners, with tips for teachers and students.

 Dave Sperling is a California State University professor, so he certainly knows his stuff. Much of the content of his page comes from discussion groups.

  There is an ideas page, a funky graffiti wall and ways to hook up with e-mail pen-pals.

  The other English language resource for teachers and students is available at Pizzaz. (http://darkwing.uoregon.edu /leslieob/pizzaz.html).

  It provides creative writing activities and handouts that can be copied for use in the classroom.

  The poetry section is fairly complete and is sure to add to a computer-user's enjoyment of the finer points of the language.

  The fiction part is under construction, and the whole resource is the handiwork of Leslie Opp-Beckman, an ESL teacher at the University of Oregon.

   DEIL LinguaCenter Pages at http://deil.lang.uiuc.edu/ are intended for students working in the DEIL LinguaCenter, but other students are welcome to browse there.

  URL http://thecity.sfsu. edu/funweb/, Frizzy University Network (FUN) is a relaxed and comfortable environment in which students learning English as a foreign or second language (EFL/ESL) can improve their writing skills.

 FUN students explore, discover and share their ideas, opinions and feelings in written English without the pressure of working for grades or credit at school.

  Here, students are motivated to learn and have fun in the process.

   Online at http://www.ed. uiuc.edu/impact/ is a hypertext English news reader and e-mail forum for intermediate and advanced learners of English as a second or foreign language.

  Learning English on the Web: English as a Second Language, with URL http://granny. lang.uiuc.edu/r-li5/esl/, on the other hand, is a starting point for ESL learners.

  This homepage links you to many ESL sites available on the Internet and other interesting places.

   The variety of material will allow you to choose something appropriate for your needs and standard of English.

  If you want information about languages in general and different language families, do not forget to visit an interesting site at http://www.sfs.nphil. uni-tuebingen.de/linguist/languages.html.

  Grammar Safari at http:// deil.lang.uiuc.edu/web.pages/ grammarsafari.html, provides you with hundreds of thousands of examples of English words used in authentic communication.

  As a stepping stone for TESL/TEFL people into the wonderful chaos of what is available on the net, Linguistic Funland's TESL page (http:// math.Unr.edu/linguistics/tesltext.html) is a worthwhile site to visit.

  Teaching With the Web (http://polyglot.lss.wisc.edu/ lss/lang/teach.html) is a compilation of ideas for English teachers using Web resources as a teaching tool and other links to sites that have language information.
