Kwok Siu-kam got a fresh look at the world yesterday when she got a new pair of glasses. The 72-year-old laughed excitedly as she tried on many different frames, asking her friends if she looked beautiful. 'I couldn't sleep last night, I was too excited about getting a free pair of glasses,' said Ms Kwok who received bifocals. Chan Ngau, 79, agreed: 'From now on we can see a clear way ahead.' Both are from the Chan Shi Sau Memorial Social Service centre, under Pok Oi Hospital. They were among 400 elderly people from Pok Oi Hospital and Po Leung Kuk who received free spectacles yesterday as part of a charity event. The day was organised by the World Vision Shop and spectacle supplier Rodenstock. The hospital's chairman, Lawrence Ong Tong-sing, said: 'I hope this event not only can give them new glasses but will raise concern in the community to care for them.'
