Heslop switches codes

ENGLAND rugby union winger Nigel Heslop has switched codes, leaving First Division side Orrell for rugby league Second Division club Oldham.

The 29-year-old policeman completed a deal based on the number of first team games he plays for Oldham between now and the end of the 1994-95 season.

Heslop, capped 10 times, is the first England international to switch to the 13-man game since Sale's John Bentley joined Leeds five years ago. He made his last England appearance as a replacement for injured skipper Will Carling in last year's Grand Slamclincher against Wales.
