Sing Tao roared into the Viceroy Cup final beating Instant-Dict 4-2 yesterday at the Mongkok Stadium.
Two goals from former Tranmere Rover marksman Ian Muir and one apiece from forwards Glyn Hodges and Wai Kwan-lung provided the second surprise of the tournament after Happy Valley had stunned South China 3-2 last Friday in the quarter-finals.
Instant-Dict had to play without right-back Cheung Chi-tak and central defender Sammy Wong Wai-tak, who are both injured.
Ross Greer, who normally plays forward, was put in the heart of defence to provide some cover with Dimitri Kalkanov. But Instant-Dict gave too much away at the back on both flanks with inexperienced Chan Hon-fai and Au Young Ying-tsz constantly being beaten.
Muir opened his account early when he found space to slot home a low shot in the fifth minute.
Wai found Sing Tao's second in the 22nd minute. The Hong Kong international raced down the centre after being put through by left-winger Chan Tsz-kong before burying a low shot past Mick Leonard.
