As the explosive trailer reveals, Timebomb (World 9.30pm, original running time 94 mins) bears some resemblance to the James Cameron classic Terminator. Sadly, it only extends to the look of the film. The acting, dialogue and photography are not in the same class.

It starts well with Michael Biehn playing a rather unusual watchmaker, suddenly pursued by CIA killers, but soon becomes ridiculous.

Patsy Kensit, who minced her way appallingly through Lethal Weapon II opposite Mel Gibson, plays a psychologist kidnapped by Biehn to try to find out who he really is.

She's barely believable, though she is not entirely to blame since the script calls on her to deliver to Biehn such stunning diagnoses as ''you're mad'' - not the usual psychologist jargon.

HORROR writer Clive Barker is best known for the 1987 cult film Hellraiser, for which he wrote the script and directed. Nightbreed (Pearl 9.45pm, ORT 99 mins) is his first writing/directing project since then and it's even weirder.

David Cronenberg, who directed The Fly and Dead Ringers, makes his starring debut as a psychiatrist fascinated by a monstrous tribe of mythological creatures.
