Population rise

CHINA'S population reached 1.17 billion at the end of 1992 but the annual rate of growth fell from 1991, the New China News Agency reported. The world's most populous country grew by 13.48 million people, with the birth rate at 18.24 per thousand last year and the natural growth rate 11.6 per thousand.
