THE recent rain has come just in time for the Lawrie Fownes-trained Captive Trick who worked well at Sha Tin yesterday morning, writes Lawrence Wadey. Captive Trick stayed on well under stable apprentice Richard K. M. So to run third to Bold Dancer recently and is a must quinella inclusion in the second event at Sha Tin tomorrow. Captive Trick is once again racing down his favoured straight 1,000-metre chute and he relishes any cut in the ground. Yesterday he was not asked to do anything too serious by Wendyll Woods who took him through a comfortable 800-metre workout in 59.5 seconds with a final quarter in 26.1. It was the way Captive Trick looked in himself which appealed and this follows a stronger hitout on Thursday morning when he excelled from the barriers at the top of the back straight. On Thursday he went with the good worker, Chiu Chow Warrior, who is due to contest tomorrow's third event, and he more than bettered his stablemate. Patrick Biancone and David Hayes send a strong team to Sha Tin tomorrow. Both are still in the hunt for their first Hong Kong training title and Biancone's Bumper Storm is very hard to get away from in one of the two feature events, the Kukri Trophy. Bumper Storm has been the subject of rave trackwork reports all week and yesterday he underlined his tremendous well-being when floating through 1,200 metres in one minute 22.0 under Eric Legrix. Biancone also sends out Intelligence for the first time tomorrow. He contests the fourth event and on the evidence of yesterday's work is at least worthy of Triple Trio support. He has done very well in himself since moving to the master French mentor from Lam Hung-fie's stable. Hayes looks to have a top chance in the opening event with Telecom Boss who should benefit from the move to 1,400 metres. Yesterday he came through an easy 800 metres in 54.3. Again it was not the time he ran, so as much as the way he looked which marked him down as one to keep safe. Hayes also has the English import Strikers primed to run well in the final event tomorrow and he was another out and about yesterday.
