United Airlines is kicking the habit. It will soon join a growing number of airlines to totally ban smoking. All United's domestic flights, and those to and from Canada, Europe, Central America, the South Pacific and selected flights in Asia and South America are now smoke-free. From July 1, the airline will extend the ban to cover all of its 2,200 daily flights. This will affect 32 daily flights to and from Asia and South America. South African Airways has introduced fitted sheets, duvets and full pillows in first class, with 'breakfast in bed' at the passenger's preferred time. After a 90-year absence, opera returns this month to the Teatro Amazonas, a 19th-century Belle Epoque opera house on the fringe of Brazil's rain forest. The hall will be the site of the Manaus Festival, a two-week international music festival from April 5 to 20, with three opera productions, chamber and symphonic concerts, and recitals. The 659-seat, government-run Teatro Amazonas was completed in 1896 at the height of the rubber boom. European opera companies performed there until 1907.
