International star Michael Kinane said farewell to Hong Kong racing last night after five eventful years.
Two hours before Kinane said he would not be applying for a further licence, the Jockey Club's Licensing Committee announced 10 trainers would be permitted to retain a stable jockey next season.
Missing from the list was former multiple champion trainer John Moore, who has not retained rider for three seasons.
As expected, Tony Cruz, who has made such a dramatic transition from champion jockey to top-line trainer, will have a stable rider in his second season of training.
He has been linked to brilliant South African rider Douglas Whyte, who took Hong Kong by storm earlier this season.
Local trainers Ricky P. F. Yiu and Andy T. W. Leung were both given permission to retain jockeys.
