A Polish investor has expressed interest in buying the bankrupt Polish shipyard Stocznia Gdanska, a government official says. The shipyard laid off all its more than 3,000 workers recently after struggling for months to find financing to complete orders.

The official, who works for the shipyard's bankruptcy administrators, refused to name the investor but said he would keep 2,500 jobs at the shipyard and arrange financing to complete contracts already signed.
