The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts' (APA) junior dance and music programmes offer talented youths the opportunity to join the territory's premier institution for performing arts. The two APA programmes are designed for children - on a part-time basis - to develop artistic and performing potential. Lessons are conducted over a period of between 30 and 36 weeks each academic year. Annual tuition fees are $5,940 for the dance programme; between $970 and $17,900 for the music programme. The dance programme offers courses in ballet, Chinese/Western folk dance, modern dance, and creative movement for children. The Royal Academy for Dancing Examination study programme is open to junior dance students majoring in ballet. The music programme offers training in Western and Chinese instruments. Auditions will be held late this month. Classes begin in September.
