A 14-year-old schoolgirl, convicted for keeping what she said was a poem from her boyfriend, lost her appeal yesterday.

The teenager said she did not know the page tucked inside her library card contained a verse extolling the Sun Yee On triad society.

She went to the High Court yesterday to fight her conviction for 'possession of triad writings'.

The Form Two student was also found guilty of assaulting a police officer. She did not appeal against that conviction.

After her arrest last July she flew into a rage and clawed a policeman's face.

A South Kowloon magistrate found her guilty on both charges in July and sentenced her to a year's probation.

The Sun Yee On tribute proclaimed that 'the rumbling of the thunderbolt will set everybody's body aflame'.
