Fire officers inspected fire doors at the civil service training centre yesterday after the South China Morning Post revealed two had been wedged open. But officers found the doors shut when they visited the Civil Service Training and Development Institute in Sheung Wan. The institute denied there had been any safety risk. A spokesman said: 'The building has a double fire-door device. The outer door is always closed. 'The other, which is really a security door, is also closed except for the brief period after office hours when cleaning and garbage collection work goes on. The door is kept open so cleaning equipment can be moved. 'There is always an attendant to monitor the operation for security and safety purposes.'
