A UNITED STATES university has ordered its Hong Kong office to stop operating, amid allegations of impropriety.
Kensington University yesterday severed ties with Hong Kong representative Teresa Li Suk-fun and is trying to obtain files on local students from her Sheung Wan office.
In a startling admission, Kensington's American bosses revealed they are uncertain who their local students are, who graded their papers and whether graduates had earned their degrees.
A spokesman said letters had been sent to Ms Li's co-directors of Kensington Institute of Hong Kong Limited this weekend, advising that the university is assuming full responsibility for all operations.
The company's contract with the university expired in February.
Kensington has also accused Ms Li of withholding more than US$100,000 (HK$774,000), their share of local student fees.
