It was business as usual for the ace South African jockey, the demon Douglas Whyte, at last night's mixed dirt and grass meeting at Sha Tin.
Whyte had been in near unstoppable form during a three-month Club Jockey stint earlier in the season, he returned to record an historic triumph for South Africa on London News in Sunday's Queen Elizabeth II Cup, and last night he was in double form for Wong Tang-ping.
Whyte booted home King's Honor for the astute local mentor in the second and then produced a copybook performance on Fireball in the fourth.
'It's definitely good to be back,' Whyte smiled.
King's Honor grabbed King David close home in the second to win by half a length with Va Vite, who is much better on the grass, staying on well for third but some way adrift of the principals.
It was a good effort from King David, starting for the first time for training sensation Tony Cruz, and he can be followed in Class Six. He might have just found last night's mile too far.
Fireball came from off the pace in the fourth to short head the longtime leader, Active Way, in a desperate finish which saw Diamond King a short head away in third.
