APL's consolidation and logistics arm, American Consolidation Services (ACS), has begun offering its services in Cambodia.

Danny Goh, ACS managing director for South Asia said: 'A significant number of products - particularly apparel - are now being sourced in Cambodia by European and North American merchandisers and retailers. The increasing volume of outbound cargo has created a need for the logistics support services that we provide.' ACS operations in Cambodia offer a full range of logistics services. Using a secure warehouse facility in Phnom Penh, cargo is handled at the only inland container depot in Cambodia.

Komol Roongruangyot, ACS general manager for Thailand and Cambodia, said: 'We have structured the service to expedite cargo processing. On-site customs, coupled with assistance in documentation compliance, allows us to avoid delays in the movement of our customers' outbound cargo.' Cargo is carried by truck from the terminal to the port of Sihanoukville, where it is loaded on feeder vessels that connect with linehaul services to Europe, North America and other destinations.

The addition of Cambodia brings the number of countries served by ACS to 37.

Mr Goh said: 'Our mission provides for ACS to implement our logistics services in support of customers' sourcing requirements anywhere in the world. Our presence in Cambodia is a reflection of our customers' participation in Cambodia's growing international trade.'
