Herbert Hui Ho-ming

Herbert Hui Ho-ming is managing director of Guangdong Investment Co.

Until earlier this year, he worked for the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong. He joined the exchange as a senior listing manager in 1989 and, in 1992, became executive director and head of the Listing Division.

In 1995, he was promoted to deputy chief executive.

Mr Hui took part in the negotiations that led to the signing of the memorandum of understanding with Beijing's China Securities Regulatory Commission, an agreement that paved the way for the listing of Chinese companies in the territory.

Before joining the exchange, he worked for five years as a merchant banker in the corporate finance department at an international merchant bank.

Mr Hui's ancestors originated from Guangdong province. He was born and educated in Hong Kong, graduating from the School of Law, University of Hong Kong.
