The Hong Kong Canoe Union, in conjunction with the Urban and Regional councils, holds basic courses for youngsters over the age of 10.
These courses are normally two-day events, in which canoeists are taught basic techniques.
'Most of the training is done over the weekend and explains safety and basic paddling techniques. Most students usually master paddling within a lesson or so,' said Hong Kong Canoe Union training director Eric Lee Chuek-fan.
