Phone radiation blocking device ready for launch
The Hong Kong arm of a Scandinavian trading company hopes to launch a device which it claims reduces the electromagnetic radiation emitted from cellular phones.
Rator International has the rights to market PhoneShield in Finland, Norway, Sweden and Denmark.
Spokesman Ragnar Otterson said it would now begin selling the products in Hong Kong and China.
He said tests by a Norwegian laboratory Nemko had determined that PhoneShield redistributed the electromagnetic field around the handset so that the maximum field strength was reduced.
Codem Systems positions the product as a solution to what it terms possible health risks linked to cell phone use.
PhoneShield is a T-shaped piece of fabric. It wraps around the ear piece and lower antenna of the handset. A retail price has yet to be fixed for the Hong Kong market. It costs from HK$240 to $400 in the United States and Scandinavia.
