Debt-laden Siu-Fung Ceramics Holdings says two potential investors have given preliminary proposals to the company and its banks about possible investment in the company. It said the proposals were under consideration. The company's comments came following its announcement on April 29 that it was in the early stages of talks with potential investors about an investment in the company and/or an asset sale. Reports the same day suggested New World Development Co was teaming up with construction materials Companion Building Material (Holdings) to make a $1 billion bid for the company. Siu-Fung's rival Interform Ceramics Technologies has also expressed an interest in buying assets.
