The Hong Kong Baptist Convention Secondary School acknowledged its two key supporters in an open day ceremony. The setting up of the Baptist school and the development of the school's administration has relied greatly upon the Si Yuan Foundation and Wu Yee Sun Charity Foundation, which bestowed a subsidy of $5 million to help establish the institution. To show their appreciation of such generous support, the school staged a grand donation ceremony which preceded the day's opening ceremony. Two donors, Dr Thomas T T Chan and Dr Michael P K Wu, were introduced by vice- chairman of the Hong Kong Baptist Convention's secondary education board and vice- chancellor of the Hong Kong Baptist University, Dr Tse Chi- wai. After the donation ceremony the three officials - together with other guests including Reverend Chu Wood-ping, Dr Young Kwok-hung, Dr Chen Shu-on, Dr Ho Kin-chung, Dr Ho Hin-hung and Cheung Chi- kim - school principal Tam Yat-yuk cut the open day ribbon. Activities included academic exhibitions, games, displays and tours which explained general life at the school and an invitational inter-school basketball competition. More than 2,000 people were admitted during the two days that the school opened its doors to the public. The Hong Kong Baptist Convention continues to contribute impetus to education here, having also established Pui Ching Middle School, Pui To Middle School and Baptist Lui Ming Choi Secondary School. The Hong Kong Baptist Convention Secondary School was established with the aim of providing comprehensive education services for the many students living in the Tuen Mun district.
