The rapid expansion in e-mail, remote access to corporate data files, electronic commerce, electronic banking, and the use of data download from on-line sources are combining to make information security a primary concern.
Add to that the fact that information has gained a value it did not have just two years ago.
'Information was always valued for operational purposes. Only recently have organisations realised that information needed to be protected because of the value it has on its own,' Rene Heymans, Horizon System managing director said.
Last month, Horizon became the distributor in Hong Kong and China for VASCO Data Security (VDS) security tokens and related products.
With its headquarters in Belgium, VDS is a member of the United States-based VASCO Group which specialises in cryptography, authentication products and services.
One of the company's flagship products is Digipass, a credit-card size security token that tackles the authentication part of the four traditional levels of security in authorisation, accuracy, and accounting.
