A teenager who was drawn into a cult had sex with 30 men a day so she could be protected when the world came to an end, a court heard yesterday.

 The 19-year-old woman said it was not until August last year, four months after she had been working as a prostitute, that she realised the cult was a sham.

 The young woman claimed she earned $200,000 for the cult during her four months' service.

 She told North Kowloon Court that a friend had introduced her to a member of the self-styled Green Dragon Temple cult in February last year after she had had an argument with her boyfriend.

 She was taken to a flat in Shamshuipo which housed an altar, and was asked if she believed that the world would end in 1999, the court heard.

 The young woman, now reunited with her lover and seven months' pregnant, said she did believe in the 'religion' and agreed to stay at the flat to practise its rituals.

 In March last year, a member of the cult asked her to work in 'public relations' to perform good deeds for the religion.

 In doing so, she and her family would be protected against evil and they would 'become gods and go to heaven', the teenager testified.

  She said she signed her name on traditional 'yellow paper', burned it and swallowed the ashes in rice wine in a ritual which then obliged her to perform her duties.

 The young woman said she believed that if she had broken the pledge to her 'god', she and her family would have 'suffered and gone to hell'.

 She told the court that from April last year it was arranged for her to have sex with about 30 men a day and the money earned was 'donated to charities through the cult'.

 She claimed alleged cult leader Mo Wan-lung, 34, kept a record of how many men she had sex with.

 Mo, unemployed, yesterday denied living off the earnings of a prostitute.

 The woman admitted she had introduced her 14-year-old sister and three female friends to the cult.

 The court heard she left the cult in August but did not inform the police of events until September 25.

 She said she had eventually realised that it was strange to have to provide sex to perform good deeds.

 The trial continues today before magistrate Kevin Browne.



Teenager had sex with 30 men a day for cult
